It started right here in our community:  The New Agenda.

Last week, we asked Where’s Hillary?  The story started to spread around the blogosphere.

Earlier this week, Tina Brown wrote a piece at her blog The Daily Beast titled Obama’s Other Wife. Tina writes:
xin_572020616211289029441

It’s time for Barack Obama to let Hillary Clinton take off her burqa….

… It becomes clearer by the day how brilliantly Obama checkmated both Clintons by putting Hillary in the topmost Cabinet job. Secretary Clinton can’t be seen to differ from the president without sabotaging her own power.

… You could say that Obama is lucky to have such a great foreign-policy wife. Those who voted for Hillary wonder how long she’ll be content with an office wifehood of the Saudi variety.

Yesterday, Ben Smith at Politico reported Hillary Clinton plans to reassert herself:

One official said the speech has been long in the making…

But another official suggested an additional motivation: Beating back a persistent perception that Clinton has been kept in the administration’s shadows.

The New Agenda was established 11 months ago as a result of the sexist treatment of Hillary Clinton during the 2008 Presidential Primary.  We vowed to never stay silent again.  And so we won’t.

Hillary Clinton – we have your back!

Hillary is back…. just as Move-On launches an all out assault on Sarah Palin.

And Obama appoints a woman to Surgeon General.

Yes. I think the Leftie misogynists are starting to get scared. Real scared.

We need to keep the heat turned up!

    SYD,

I don’t think the “Leftie” “Rightie” thing is going to get us far as a group. Lately the Right has been attacking Palin move than the Left and the Right has a long history of attacking HRC.

And finally, given the Right just approved Audra Shay to lead the Young Republicans, I think it is clear there are sexists, racists, and misogynists in both parties.

I am for people who support a women’s rights, regardless of party, and for more women in leadership positions in politics, business and all organizations.

    I agree LVL.

We can’t count on either party to speak out and eradicate sexism. We need to do it ourselves. We need a NEW AGENDA!

It seems to me that the Democratic Party has a majority in both Houses of Congress and holds the Executive Branch of government. Sexism from all directions needs to be confronted. Meanwhile, the people in power should be seen as having more responsibility than the people not in power.

The two parties are not only not speaking out against sexism, their exploiting it. The fact that the Democratic, supposedly “progressive”, is particularly damaging, and to me, disappointing.
