The New Agenda is catching on North of our borders.

Yesterday, we received a lovely email from a woman in Toronto who had this to say about what is happening in Canada:

Your phenomenally astute and relevant commentary has apparently started a dialogue with the male-dominated media and, as result, the politicos are listening!

I am truly fascinated with the progress made by women in the United States. Even though in Canada we have had Gender Equality constitutionally entrenched in our Charter of Rights since l982, we lack I feel the chutzpah and dynamism found in American feminism today….

Thanks and keep up the efforts!

Today, we received an invitation for Amy Siskind to join as a guest on Arlene Byron’s radio show to discuss violence against women.  Amy will be interviewed live on Sunday, March 8th at 3 p.m. EST on radio station AM 640 Toronto Radio.

The New Agenda is committed to speaking out on the important topic of violence against women and pushing this important issue into our national dialogue.

Please join us.

Wonderful! The more visibility we are able to keep on the issue of violence against women, the better. Go Amy!

She was great, and so were you Amy. Apart from the fact that she “gets it”, the interview ran a decent length so you could actually get to the issue. I think the numbers here, and the diversion to culture is the same as in the U.S.

I was not aware of this broadcaster until today. (Dedicated CBC listener), but I’ll keep tabs on Arlene Bynan from now on.

Amy, I haven’t looked for anything on this — I can only take so much and I chose to find it here and a couple other like places — but Bynan is the only mainstream journalist I’ve seen who has it right. Thanks to both of you. I hope to hear Bynan again on this issue of *violence toward women*.

I thought it was a great interview too! I’m writing a note to thank the host for the time to get into the issue in depth. We so rarely get that for Violence Against Women.
